Tamil Nadu is leading India’s march toward semiconductor self-reliance, offering a complete ecosystem for design, fabrication, packaging, and equipment manufacturing. Supported by strong infrastructure, industrial corridors, and a skilled engineering base, the state provides unparalleled advantages for global semiconductor firms. Through proactive policies and sustained innovation, Tamil Nadu is redefining India’s position in the global electronics and semiconductor value chain.
Supported by progressive state policies and the Tamil Nadu Semiconductor Mission 2030, the state provides a strong foundation for high-tech growth and global investment.
Its strategic location, advanced industrial infrastructure, and collaboration with premier research institutions foster rapid innovation and scalability.
Driving over 25% of the country’s electronics exports and hosting one of the largest and most diversified electronics ecosystems.
Strategic location for South Asia, ASEAN, Europe, and North America.
The state has launched a 5-pillar strategy under this mission, with a budget of ₹500 crore.
Tamil Nadu launched its dedicated Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, targeting ₹30,000 crore investment and creation of 60,000 jobs.
Tamil Nadu’s electronics exports have risen significantly: over US$14.6 billion in FY2024-25. The state contributes a large share of India’s exports in the electronics / ESDM (Electronic System Design and Manufacturing) sectors.
The government has earmarked ~100 acres each for a dedicated semiconductor / equipment manufacturing park at Sulur and near Palladam. These parks are part of the broader Tamil Nadu Semiconductor Mission 2030 – a ~₹ 500 crore mission to build a self-sustaining semiconductor and advanced electronics value chain in the state.
Tamil Nadu offers a dynamic and rapidly expanding ecosystem for semiconductor and advanced electronics investments, supported by strong industrial infrastructure, a highly skilled engineering workforce, and progressive policy frameworks. The state is committed to enabling an end-to-end semiconductor value chain to drive technological self-reliance, high-value manufacturing, and innovation-led economic growth. Below is an overview of the core elements of the semiconductor ecosystem, highlighting opportunities across design, manufacturing, packaging, research, and supply chain integration, along with dedicated support mechanisms for investors.
