Tamil Nadu is India's leading textile hub, contributing majorly to the country's textile exports and employment. The state's textile ecosystem encompasses a wide range of activities, including spinning, weaving, processing, knitwear, apparel, and technical textiles. Tamil Nadu has established major textile clusters, including Tirupur, Coimbatore, Karur, and Erode, which are supported by robust infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and port connectivity, fostering growth. Textile exports from Tamil Nadu have remained strong, particularly in ready-made garments and cotton yarn, despite global and domestic challenges. The state is also developing mega textile parks and boosting skill development to maintain its global leadership in textiles while aiming for sustainable industrial growth and economic transformation.
